The Medical Grade Footwear Register is open to individuals involved
in the provision of advice and products to patients requiring assistance due to
medical problems.
Certification is available to three sectors of the Medical Grade Footwear
market.
MGF Sectors
- Retail Ready Made Medical Grade Footwear
- Modification of Ready Made Medical Grade Footwear
- Custom-made Medical Grade Footwear
All three sectors are expected to be able to provide advice and access to
product to patients requiring assistance.

There are a number of benefits in having the Medical Grade Footwear
Register.
- Information
- The Medical Grade Footwear Register provides doctors and patients
access to providers of services and product for improving mobility
which has been inhibited by medical problems.
- Recognition
- The register provides recognition to the individuals that have
undertake the necessary training and testing to demonstrate the
competency to provide medical grade footwear. Although it is
recognised that many practitioners will continue to improve their
skills and competency beyond the minimum requirements of the register,
the register provides recognition of reaching the minimum levels
recognised as being necessary to provide quality service.

- The register provides the contact details for all people that have
undertaken training and demonstrated the competence necessary to meet
the requirements.
