FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CMGFP Training CompleteFootwear Practitioners now ready for registration11 April 2003 The first members of AMGFA have now completed the required four days training necessary to meet the requirements of the Certified Medical Grade Footwear Practitioners Certificate. A total of 26 members have participated in the training so far, however only 10 have done all four days. It is expected that these 10 members will complete the certification requirements over the next few months by completing the application form and presenting their case to the certification panel. A number of members that completed the first two days training will be applying for certification in the Retail or Footwear Modification sections of the certification program. The last two days of training were presented at St. George Hospital on 21 and 22 of February and included presentations by Dr. George Carter, Karl Schott and Peter Reeves. The training is designed to prepare the attendees for certification and give guidance for providing quality Medical Grade Footwear advice, service and product. A number of cases were presented during the training to show how to assess a patient and design and make the necessary appliances or footwear. There was also discussion on the Quality Management of a Medical Grade Footwear Business, including patient management, record management and organisation. The first two days of the training was first presented in February 2002 and repeated in August 2002. However so far all training has been presented in the Sydney area. Case presentations for the Certification program will be received in Sydney in the first week of August. Interstate presentations will be accepted as required. The certification program has been developed by the AMGFA. There have been extensive discussions with Government and medical fund representatives, and it is expected that as the program is fully implemented, certification will become a requirement for provision of service in many areas. In order to maintain a separation between AMGFA and the certification process, Australian Certification Enterprises will maintain the register and ensure that all the necessary process are followed and that the program will be widely accepted. Details of the CMGFP program may be received by contacting Frances Reeves on (02) 9823 0684. For More Information Contact: |
